Glass Projected To Have Crazy Successful Box Office Opening

Glass is set to hit theaters within the next few weeks. With it will come the conclusion of a story that started off way back in 2000 with Unbreakable. Writer-director M. Night Shyamalan had always said he intended for that first film to be the first act of a more traditional superhero story, and with that in mind, fans have always hoped to see a sequel.

A sequel did eventually come, but not in the traditional sense. Split was more of a side story that led into what could be seen as the third act of a greater story in Glass. But what will it bring in terms of its box office performance?

Well, things are looking pretty solid, according to early projections. Deadline has the film tracking fora $75 million 4-day opening per industry sources. Other services have a more conservative $50 million opening, which is still damn solid.

Either way, it solidly beats out Split‘s $40 million opening as well as Unbreakable‘s $30 million opening (though that was nearly 20 years ago). Plus, it’s worth noting that Unbreakable had a $75 million budget, and while we don’t expect Glass to have a budget as low as $9 million (which Split had), we’re sure it was kept relatively minimal.

This means that, when all said and done, this could easily be the franchise’s most successful movie to date. And assuming it’s actually a good film, then who knows what that can mean for its long-term success.
