Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Gets An Early Official Rating

At the end of May of next year, Godzilla will once again terrorize the big screen in the film Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Last time we saw him audiences were left a bit disappointed with the amount of screen time the star of the film got. This time around it seems like we’ll get a lot more of the Kaiju.

Today in a surprising announcement via Bloody Disgusting it looks like we have an official rating for the film. According to the Motion Picture Association of America, the Michael Dougherty directed Godzilla: King of the Monsters has been rated PG-13 for “sequences of monster action violence and destruction, and for some language.”

Films are not usually rated this far up in advanced, giving us an the idea that most of the film’s final cut has been completed for the MPAA to give an accurate rating. In late July at Comic-Con International in San Diego we got our first look at Godzilla as well as some Godzilla favorites Rodan, Mothra and a glimpse at King Ghidorah.

Here is the official synopsis for the film:
“The new story follows the heroic efforts of the cryptozoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient superspecies, thought to be mere myths, rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”
