Godzilla: King Of The Monsters New TV Spot Is Set To ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’

I’ve stated time and again just how much the first trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters impressed me. With its impressive visuals and operatic music, it really created what felt to me like an unprecedented spectacle. While these monsters have been around for decades, there was a weight and gravitas to them that I’d never seen before, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see how this clash between monsters turns out.

Now, Warner Bros. has gone and upped the ante again. In a new TV spot, we get to see more Kaiju action, and this time it’s set to an instrumental rendition of the classic Wizard of Oz song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” I’m sure plenty of you roll your eyes when you have something relatively innocent juxtaposed against something more menacing, but I’m a sucker for that kind of advertising, so this gets me in all the right places.

Also of note in this TV spot is a whole lot of people respective the majestic nature of the monsters. Too often in these movies do we see some meatheaded general think he can control these beasts, but in this movie, it really feels like most everyone is ready to let the big creatures do the fighting for mankind, as evidenced by the line, “This is Godzilla’s world. We just live in it.”
