According to The Illuminerdi, the HBO Max spin-off of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, Gotham P.D., has put out a casting call for two lead characters. The series is expected to begin shooting this summer. You can check out a description of the characters from Illuminerdi below.
“The lead female character is black, 35-45 years old, and a former detective who becomes the new Gotham District Attorney. The male lead is a 30-40 year old white police detective who works for Commissioner James Gordon.”

Hmm, interesting. Going off the first description from above, it seems possible we could have a new twist on Harvey Dent/Two-Face on the way. That is purely speculation on my part. However, I do find the idea intriguing. Gotham P.D. is coming together at roughly the same speed as the film it is spun off from, which is borderline torture for fans. However, judging by the first trailer for The Batman, it should be more than worth the wait. While the information on the upcoming series is scarce, what we do know is it will a direct tie-in with The Batman.
While I’m sure films will always have their place in both respective universes. It seems as streaming is slowly but surely becoming the way to go for both Marvel and DC (Star Wars as well). Due to the pandemic, Wonder Woman 1984 debuted on HBO Max and was released simultaneously last Christmas. And in just a few weeks the highly anticipated Zack Snyder’s Justice League will premiere on the platform.
