Gotham – Sean Pertwee On How The Final Season Has Consequences

Fox’s Gotham will return for it’s fifth and final season this Thursday, January 3. Show runners have already promised viewers they will finally be getting their Batman, having watched a young Bruce Wayne grow into the hero over the last four seasons.

Guiding Bruce Wayne through his journey to becoming The Dark Knight has been his guardian and butler Alfred Pennyworth. Actor Sean Pertwee who play Alfred on the the show, (perhaps the most badass version of the butler Alfred fans have ever seen on screen) recently spoke with CBR and spoke about the stakes of Season 5.

“Yes. [laughs] That’s all I can say! There’s not as much, because — as you know — I’ve had some legendary altercations with people… the stunt guys Norman [Douglass] and Turner [Smith] have allowed me to do all my own fights, which I love to doing. My wife doesn’t like it when I do them, because I come home black and blue and I don’t bounce like I used to, but yeah, there’s a massive one coming up, which actually has repercussions, and I can’t say anymore.”

For the most part, the show has been a fun ride through a pre-Batman Gotham City. A bit over the top at times, but I guess that is to be expected from a show based around one of the most famous cities in all of comic books. I’ve enjoyed the show’s run but do agree this it’s time to bring the story to a close.
