Gotham’s Crystal Reed To Star in DC Universe’s Swamp Thing

With the DC Universe streaming service set to launch just a few days away, we know that Titans will drop next month and that off of that will spin off Doom Patrol. Another live action DC Entertainment property that is in development is the female lead Swamp Thing based on the characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson.

Deadline has learned that Crystal Reed will be taking on the role of the female lead Abby Arcane. She will be investigating what seems like a deadly swamp born virus in a small town in Louisiana, but soon discovers that there is a lot more to the swamp which holds mystical and horrific secrets.

They describe Abby Arcane as smart and caring CDC Doctor with a strong sense of empathy. Meeting the scientist Alec Holland takes her into a world of horror and the supernatural that leads her straight into the elemental creature, Swamp Thing.

Swamp Thing is being produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros. Television. Wan, Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear and Len Wiseman are on board as executive producers. Wiseman is also on board to direct the series.

This in not Reed’s first venture into the DC TV universe, as she has recently played the role of Sofia Falcone on the fourth season of Fox’s Gotham. But she also starred in a film titled Incident in a Ghost Land, not to mention that she also co-starred in MTV’s Teen Wolf.
