Gozer Is Back In Ghostbusters: Afterlife New Trailer

According to the latest report by Deadline, the Ghostbuster: Afterlife sequel casts both Patton Oswalt and Kumail Nanjiani.

Check out the Ghostbusters: Afterlife new trailer below. I think you may agree with me that it looks like Gozer is back. Gozer was the bringer of the apocalypse, aka, the first movie villain, and was defeated by the Ghostbusters. Or, it would perhaps be fairer to say Gozer was denied entry to our plane of existence.

With the Devil Dogs seen in the trailer, along with what looks like the same effects as the finale of Ghostbusters, is there any doubt Gozer has found a way back? Check it out.

It even looks as though we may see the shadow of whatever form Gozer has taken in the background along with a potential Gozer looking arm coming out of some rubble. That’s not all the nostalgia for you, as the latest trailer also confirms Janine’s return. Not only that but a call is made to that old Ghostbusters number and someone answers inside an occult book store. Yup, that was the voice of Dan Ackroyd, playing Ray Stantz at the end.

So, is this gonna be any good? Jury is out for me, what I see here is Sony correcting the mistakes of the last Ghostbusters abomination by giving fans all the sweet nostalgia that brings in the bucks. Plus, people like Stranger Things, so lets bring some kids into it.

What I am not seeing anywhere from the trailers right now is a compelling story. Now, that does not mean I think Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be trash, I’ll be seeing it for sure. I’m just not willing to buy into the hype Sony is trying to create thus far. If the movie works, then it works, and I don’t need it to be the second best Ghostbusters movie to enjoy it. If it’s decent, then I’ll be happy.

My worry, is Sony’s track record, and the fact that I feel like I know the plot somewhat already from just a few trailers capitalizing on the nostalgia factor. Still, Gozer was always my favorite villain from the franchise, even within the old cartoons and games. As a kid, I remember thinking that Gozer must have had other plans, or was making more, wherever it was now. So the fact Gozer is back is kinda cool.

What do you think of the Ghostbusters: Afterlife new trailer? Thoughts below as always.
