Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is happening under director James Gunn. According to a new report Guardians 3 filming is to begin this year and it will kick off in the U.K. The report comes from Murphy’s Multiverse, who say that they’ve found out filming is slate for the second half of this year. That should be after Gunn himself finishes with filming the Peacemaker HBO Max series.
Unlike the last Guardians movie, which was filmed in Atlanta, it seems at least some of the filming this time will happen in the U.K. as said above. The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie was filmed in Shepperton Studios and Longcross Studios, both in the U.K. As yet we still don’t have a proper release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, if Guardians 3 filming is set for this year, we could be looking at early 2023? That’s based on pure guesswork from me based on the fact we think we have 2022 mapped out.

Early rumors have Guardians 3 focused on the backstory of Rocket. However, those rumors hit a long time ago and things could have changed? We also think that the search for Gamora will also be a key plot for Guardians 3. The rest of the Guardians will next show up in Thor: Love and Thunder, save Gamora. Though, actress Zoe Saldana is expected to reprise her role as alt-Gamora in Guardians 3.
It will feel surreal when Guardians 3 filming begins under James Gunn after all the drama we had a year or so ago. I never thought Guardians 3 would even happen, never mind Gunn coming back. Let’s hope the extra time will have allowed Gunn to refine the script even more before filming begins this year.
