Deadline report a Guardians 3 role confirmed for Borat breakout star Maria Bakalova. Bakalova’s is said to be a key role in the movie according to the trade. Of course Guardians wrapped principal week’s ago. However other than the main cast, new chief antagonist Chukwudi Iwuji and Adam Warlock actor Will Poulter, there were little reports around new casting details. Now, after the fact we are getting some information. Deadline also reported just last week that Daniela Melchior has a small role in the movie as well.
As per Deadline:
Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a key role in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, we can reveal.
Gunn, as he usually does, admitted it was the truth online.

Bakalaova won several accolades, including an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to open on May 5th, 2023. Therefore, we are less than a year out till the end of the Guardians franchise as we know it. Gunn has stated previously that Guardians 3, in addition to the Holiday Special will be the last hurrah for this team of Guardians, and his own involvement with the franchise.
It does seem like Gunn will have a lot more DC projects to come, but right now it doesn’t look like should expect to see him direct a Marvel movie again anytime soon. However who knows what the future may hold for Gunn and the MCU? I seem to recall at one point prior to Gunn’s initial sacking by Disney, he was supposed to lead the cosmic side of the MCU going forward? I’m not sure now where that rumor came from, but I kinda wish we got to see that play out, as a fan of Gunn. Though, I did also love both The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker so I’m happy about that.
