A horror anthology series will be coming to Netflix by way of Oscar-winning director Guillermo Del Toro. The new show, titled, 10 After Midnight. Along with creating the show, Del Toro will write and direct select episodes as well as executive produce. The series will consist of Del Toro’s “personally curated stories, described as both equally sophisticated and horrific.” Del Toro is also said to be choosing a team of top horror writers and filmmakers to bring his stories to the screen.

Del Toro already has a good relationship with Netflix as he created the animated series Trollhunters for the streaming giant, which debuts its third season later this month. This will be the first Netflix original in the horror genre (though fans of Stranger Things may argue).

Del Toro has the ability to go to some pretty dark places with his stories, so letting him head up a horror anthology series seems fitting. His films can be described as beautifully terrifying and, at times, perhaps even a little macabre. He is a fantastic filmmaker and storyteller, so this new series may be something to keep an eye on.

An official release date for 10 After Midnight has not been released.
