One day after the release of the latest Halloween trailer, Universal Pictures released a one-minute long “peek” at the inspirations of the film with the filmmakers and star behind the production. Featured in the clip are star Jamie Lee Curtis, executive producer and music composer John Carpenter (who co-wrote and directed the original 1978 film), and co-writer/director David Gordon Green.
The three make comments about the upcoming film with scenes of the film and score and blended in between. First, they explain the being that is nicknamed “The Shape” and “The Boogieman”, Michael Myers, as being the embodiment of pure evil. His relentless drive to unleash pure rage on whatever is in his way. Carpenter goes on to say how very talented Jamie Lee Curtis is, stating that she was perfect for his film and how forty years later she is perfect for David Gordon Green’s story.

Toward the end of the clip, Carpenter states that this current film is the best thing he’s seen since his film from ’78. Carpenter has never said that about any other film in the franchise, including the sequel he wrote in ’81. In the last seconds, just before the final images of the film are shown, Curtis states that this film is “intense” and “just brutal”.
As of the date of this article’s publication, we are just 43 days away until Laurie Strode and Michael Myers do battle one more time. Halloween opens nationwide on Friday, October 19th.
