Halo: Infinite Update From 343i

Halo: Infinite Supported

We have a small Halo: Infinite update from developers 343i. Halo: Infinite was supposed to be a launch title for the Xbox Series X. However, the Series X launched almost a week ago and as yet there is no hint of a release date for Halo: Infinite. Developers 343i, a Microsoft owned studio had cited Coronavirus as the main reason for delays to the latest installment of the Halo franchise. Though Coronavirus may be the main reason the game was unfinished, what is clear is that the game was unfinished.

Demo’s of Halo: Infinite running were met with a lot of online criticism from fans, especially the pretty basic character models of some enemies. It is expected that Halo: Infinite won’t launch until some time in 2021, though when exactly is anyone’s guess. We may have more concrete news in the future though? A fan posed the question on Reddit of whether Halo: Infinite might make an appearance at the Video Games Awards. One of 343i’s employees then gave an update. Sadly Halo: Infinite will not make an appearance at the VGA, however an update is coming.

“Right now we’re still going through the huge cascade of implications and ramifications to the release shift and the team is heads down working through nearly every facet of the game. Full disclosure we don’t have anything planned for the VGAs, but are hoping to offer at least a high level update within the next few weeks so we can kind of restart this journey together after the holidays. Pulling together something like a demo or big beat for the VGAs is an enormous amount of work and would cause challenges with current milestones of the holidays. I know it’s hard to wait, but the team is going to make the most of this extra time and we want to make sure we can put our best foot forward and commit to greater transparency and dialog on the road ahead. We’ll get there and get the train going again.”

Within the next few weeks we are getting an update on Halo: Infinite. However, that does not necessarily mean that we will get a release date. I guess we will just have to wait and see what the update brings? As someone who can’t wait to play Halo: Infinite, yet was disappointed in Halo 5, I’m in no rush. I do not want an incomplete game that once again disappoints me. So far, since taking over from creators Bungie, 343i and Halo has been a little, meh! Halo 4 was decent, but limited by being rushed for Xbox 360. Then Halo 5 went in a completely different direction and thoroughly bored me. The ideas behind Halo: Infinite seem interesting, but I’d rather they take time and get it right.

What do you hope to hear in the Halo: Infinite update? Leave your thoughts below.
