Peter Claffey has been cast as Beast in X-Men, plus more Marvel Barside Buzz rumors to go over in this roundup. Let’s get started with the rumors on the role of Beast, which Claffey was in the running for until it seemed Charles Melton took the lead. Melton then seemingly passed, or couldn’t agree a deal, so it meant the casting hunt was back on.

Now Caleb Williams of Knight Edge Media claims that Claffey has signed on and will play the role of Beast in Jake Schreier’s X-Men reboot.

‘Today, we at Knight Edge Media have been told exclusively that Irish actor Peter Claffey has been cast as Hank McCoy/Beast in the Marvel Studios X-Men reboot.’

The Buzz in general from both Williams and Daniel RPK is that casting is pretty much done on X-Men now. There are still roles we don’t know mind, like who is playing Iceman. Ergo the Marvel casting train is moving on to the next film on the docket, Ghost Rider starring Ryan Gosling. Zodiac being the focus of casting on the TV side for Marvel Studios.

Williams also backed up a claim naming one name in the running for Moira MacTaggert, but seems he has no idea how it actually went and who was cast.

Well since it’s out there….Yes I heard Renate Reinsve (Backrooms) met with Marvel for Moira MacTaggert no idea how it went

But also 6 months ago told @joshuahorowitz she never wants to join a Marvel film 🤷‍♂️ https://t.co/pVgERzHdRD

Finally today, we have some details that Daniel RPK shared on his Patreon around a new test screening for Avengers: Doomsday. There’s nothing plot wise mentioned here, which is the only reason I’m covering Doomsday rumors, given plot leaks already out there.

Daniel says he’s heard this cut was around 2 hours and 50 minutes long and was received positively by the test audience.

There was praise for Doctor Doom as up there with Thanos as one of Marvel’s best villains. Good, he really should be the best. Additionally on the hero side he was told Cyclops was a standout and so far there is one important post-credit scene.

That’s it for your start of the week Marvel Barside Buzz roundup. Leave any thoughts on the current rumors below.
