Halo: Infinite will be supported after launch! It’s not unusual in video games these days, however developers 343i recently told fans not to worry about ongoing support. According to a new update video (see below) fans were told not to expect 343i to release Halo: Infinite and then go start working on a Halo 7. The relevant quote is transcribed below for your ease.
Quinn DelHoyo, who works on the Sandbox Team at the 343i said this about 14 minutes in.
“Something that we’re really excited about is that this is not just a Halo game that we’re going to get out and then be done with and move on to the next Halo title. But we’re always going to be looking at how do we keep updating this game.”
Gone are the days when developers release a game and that’s it. For a start they usually ship with a ton of bugs that need fixes. There’s also the fine tuning of the Multiplayer aspect and Halo is famous for having a reasonably competitive MP scene.

However, I hope what 343i are planning is continued PvE content for fans. I want to be able to build something up with friends and have some new content to bring us back into the game and the story. Perhaps that’s because I play as lot of GAAS games where the ongoing content drops are a must. What I’d really love is for Halo to adopt some Looter/Shooter DNA. However, there are a number of Halo fans who would hate that suggestion. Perhaps we need something in between?
Halo 4 had ongoing new story chapters with gameplay built in. It was not infinite, pardon the pun, but that was years ago. Surely now, with a more open world version of Halo, that kind of content would be easier to produce? I’m not saying they need content every week, but peak and troughs will always bring fans back during content drops.
There is still much we don’t know about how Halo: Infinite will work. However, let’s hope the statement about Halo: Infinite being supported after launch is not just for MP tuning. What are your hopes for Halo: Infinite? How long do you think Halo: Infinite will be supported for? As always leave any thoughts below.
