Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit Broadway play Hamilton certainly took the world by storm. It’s a musical that has probably the worst pitch in the world: a rap musical about Alexander Hamilton, who is perhaps one of the lesser known of America’s founding fathers. On every level, the pitch sounds cheesy, boring, and forgettable, but many quickly discovered that the the actual musical was anything but.
Instead we were given a fun, smart, and engaging piece of storytelling that entertained just as much as it taught. While Lin-Manuel Miranda has been in the industry for a while now, it was Hamilton that made him a household name, and now fans are excited working on such films as Moana and the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel.
More than anything, however, many are curious to take a look at behind the making of the very musical they love so much. Well, soon, you’ll be getting that chance. PBS just revealed a trailer for an upcoming documentary, Hamilton’s America.
Check it out below!
As you can see, Hamilton’s America is set to cover the rich, vibrant origins of the Hamilton Broadway musical, and give us all insight into the making of a classic. Even if you’re not a huge fan of musicals, it looks like artists of every sort will be able to get something out of this, as it’s always a joy to watch art, in any form, go from inception to execution.
