Hans Zimmer Has No Time to Die

I’ve gotta say, as someone who really did not enjoy the last Bond film, Spectre, the steady stream of (recent) news coming out of the next flick, No Time to Die, has steadily been getting me more excited as it nears release.

After a few stumbles with the creative team, the production managed to land not only the creator of True Detective, Cary Joji Fukunaga to direct and write, but also Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the creative mind behind Fleabag and Killing Eve, to write what has been billed as Craig’s last 007 outing.  Add to that Rami Malick (Bohemian Rhapsody) as your antagonist and you’ve got a stew going, baby.

Well, here we are again and Variety has just confirmed that mega composer Hans Zimmer (Mission: Impossible 2, Gladiator, Dark Knight) will be scoring the film. The musician has been nominated for an Academy Award 11 times, winning for his work on 1994’s The Lion King.

Unfortunately, it seems as though Zimmer’s addition to the film came at the dismissal of Dan Romer (Beasts of No Nation), who was previously announced as the film’s composer. “Creative differences” were cited by Eon Productions as the reason for Romer’s departure from the film.  On the plus side, he gets the honor of being the first composer fired in the franchise’s history, so I guess that’s something?

With the film debuting in 4 months (8 April 2020), hopefully, that’s enough time for Zimmer to put together one of his memorable scores for Craig’s last Bond film. He is or at least has been hard at work on no less than 3 blockbusters coming out this year, Dune, Top Gun: Maverick and Wonder Woman 1984.
