Happy Death Day 2U Gets A Festive First Poster

Last October, the Blumhouse film Happy Death Day hit theaters. While no masterpiece, it was a fun, Groundhog Day-like take on the time loop concept. Its high-concept, low-budget take was one audiences were taken with, allowing it to easily make and exceed its budget at the box office.

Given that this is Blumhouse, a sequel was guaranteed. The title, Happy Death Day 2U was recently revealed, but we still didn’t have any idea what the movie would actually be about. I’m sad to report that that still remains true, as the official synopsis tells us virtually nothing about what to expect of the plot — though it looks like the fun of the first will still be present and accounted for.

Below is the official synopsis to Happy Death Day 2U:

“Jessica Rothe leads the returning cast of HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U, the follow-up to Blumhouse’s (Split, Get Out, The Purge series) surprise 2017 smash hit of riveting, repeating twists and comic turns. This time, our hero Tree Gelbman (Rothe) discovers that dying over and over was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead.”

That wasn’t all. We also got a new poster for the film showing off the familiar masked killer holding out a red velvet cupcake (my favorite kind) with a number “2” planted on it.
