Well, this is a bit on the weird side, but I guess it’s to be expected from the mind of the Happy Death Day writer and director. Both it and its sequel were certainly fun films, and a part of that fun came from how weird it allowed itself to get. With that in mind, I expect something similar from Christopher Landon’s next movie, which is an untitled one featuring Vince Vaughn(Psycho — and yes, there’s a reason I’m dropping that movie here) and Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies, Detective Pikachu).

In the film, we will see Vaughn swap bodies with a teen girl in what seems like an odd, perverted twist on the Freaky Friday trope. But this movie will be taking things a bit differently. It bills itself as a thriller, and follows a girl who, after swapping bodies with a serial killer, realizes she has only 24 hours before she’s stuck that way forever.

In response to this reveal, Landon took to Twitter to say:

I have to tell you, considering this will be another Blumhouse joint, I think I’m on board. Both they and Landon have a proven track record, so I can only imagine this will be a cool nail-biter. Plus, as tired as the swapping bodies trope can be, anime director Makoto Shinkai proved that there were still unique ideas to cover in Your Name, so here’s hoping some more new ideas are discovered here.
