Ever since Tom Hardy departed WB/DC’s upcoming Suicide Squad, the hunt for his replacement has been a running story. From Jake Gyllenhaal to a fan campaign for Jon Bernthal, people have been busy coming up with ideas for who could take on the role of Rick Flagg. It now looks like director David Ayer has found his man. Back in February our very own El Mayimbe reported that Joel Kinnaman (Robocop) was the frontrunner to play Rick Flagg in the film. And now Kinnaman himself confirmed it.
Kinnaman has stated in a recent interview that he’s the man stepping into the role. The source for the story only points to one quote from the actor, where Kinnaman states:
“All I can say is that I’m going to be in the movie, and it’s going to be amazing.”
Kinnaman is joining a cast that includes Will Smith as the masked assassin Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, newcomer Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
