How’s this for a film description?
“It’s Transformers versus Adaptation and Godzilla meets Being John Malkovich.”
That’s how The Hollywood Reporter describes Anne Hathaway’s new movie. It’s going to be titled Colossal, and will be written and directed by Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes). Her casting was announced at Cannes, and the project has all ready got the benefit of buzz thanks to its original concept.
Hathaway will play a normal woman named Gloria, who suffers great losses and decides to leave New York for his hometown. Meanwhile, a giant lizard begins to attack Tokyo, and Glora slowly comes to realize that the creatures actions are somehow related to what’s going on in her own mind. The film will explore Gloria’s attempts to figure out how her seemingly insignificant existence is linked to what’s going on in Tokyo, as she hopes to prevent further destruction.
Vigalondo says, “Colossal is my most ambitious script so far, and probably also the most personal one. Having Anne and this terrific team around goes beyond my craziest expectations.“
This certainly sounds ambitious. Colossal is a film to keep an eye on, for sure.
