Only if working at a video store would be as exciting as in Scare Package.

Hawn Tran stars in the horror anthology Scare Package, which ties a few horror shorts together around a couple of employees at a horror-themed VHS video rental store.

The horror-comedy stars Jeremy King (The Pale Doors), Noah Segan (Knives Out), Toni Trucks (SEAL Team), Chase Williamson (The Guest), Baron Vaughn (Grace and Frankie), and Joe Bob Briggs (The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs). The Scare Package anthology is the brainchild of Aaron B. Koontz and Cameron Burns of Paper Street Pictures. The list of directors included Emily Hagins (My Sucky Teen Romance), Chris McInroy (Death Metal), Noah Segan (Knives Out), Courtney and Hillary Andujar (The Wind), Anthony Cousins (The Bloody Ballad of Squirt Reynolds), Baron Vaughn (Grace and Frankie), and Koonz. They all co-wrote the film along with Frank Garcia-Hejl (Ramsey Has a Time Machine), Ben Fee (Missio: I See You), and John Karsko (After Dark).

Here’s the brief synopsis:

In Scare Package, Chad Buckley is a lonely horror aficionado, spending his days overseeing a struggling video store and arguing with his only customer, Sam. When an unsuspecting job applicant arrives, Chad sets out to teach him the rules of horror, weaving in and out hilarious segments geared toward the ropes and tropes of terror.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta discussed with actor Hawn Tran, who starred as the newly hired video store clerk in the segments titled “Horror Hypothesis” and “Rad Chad’s Horror Emporium” of Scare Package. We talked about the VHS store, horror stories, and the huge not-see-it-coming twist towards the end.

Hawn Tran is a television and film actor with numerous appearances. Most recently, he played a pivotal character called the Puppeteer in HBO’s Watchmen. He has appeared in numerous movies, including Synchronic, ZeroZeroZero, Eat Brains Love, and The Perfect Date. On television, his appearances included shows such as Claws, Preacher, and Scream Queens.

Scare Package releases on VOD, Digital HD, DVD, and Blu-ray today.
