Hellboy Graces Cover of Empire

Are you pumped for the return of Hellboy? Does the film seem like a welcome back to the screen for the kitten-loving demon? Or are you vexed and wondering why the hell Guillermo del Toro isn’t directing the lovable Ron Perlman under all those prosthetics? Well, here’s some news that may sway you to the former. I mean, if that fiery teaser trailer didn’t do it for you. Enclosed within Empire Magazine’s upcoming 2019 issue will be loads of previews for upcoming 2019 films. Gracing the cover of the 30th anniversary Empire issue is none other than Anung Un Rama AKA Hellboy himself.

I would have personally preferred to be getting the third chapter from visionary director Guillermo del Toro. I felt like del Toro still had story to tell. I mean the way in which Golden Army ended, I was certainly looking forward to seeing what antics Poppa Hellboy, and Momma Liz were going to get into now that Liz had two confirmed buns in the oven. I imagine there would have been a spot of ol’ Uncle Abe. But we’re not getting that film.

So, how’s that make me feel? A little sad. There is some silver lining, however. I mean, we are getting the very same director of the cult film Dog Soldiers to helm it. It also stars David Harbour best known for his portrayal of Jim Hopper in Stranger Things.  Speaking of Harbour, I’m elated that he said this when discussing the R rating for Neil Marshall’s Hellboy during the trailer recap released last week. “This movie is gory,” Harbour told the outlet. “I mean it’s like a horror movie. There’s a lot of blood in it. It’s brutal.”

I hope it’s good and gory. Leave a comment below!
