Hellboy Pushed Back For An April Release

For those of you who had been looking forward to that January 11th, 2019 release of the Hellboy reboot, you will now have to wait a few months longer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Summit Entertainment announced today that the release date of the film has been pushed back to April 12th, 2019.

This is a very interesting date to pick as Hellboy will now open in theaters one week after Warner Bros. Pictures’ Shazam! which opens April 5th, 2019. Besides that April 12th also already has a few films that are set to debut on that day, like Robert Downey Jr.’s The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle for Universal Pictures as well a Fox film titled Breakthrough starring Chrissy Metz and Topher Grace. Sure not the most intimidating competition but they can take away from your sales never the less.

Hellboy will have a presence at next week’s New York Comic Con, which has started the rumor that perhaps the first trailer will make it’s debut there. The film stars Stranger Things actor David Harbour as the half demon hero. The script for the movie was written by the creator of the character Mike Mignola along with Andrew Cosby and Christopher Golden and it is being directed by Neil Marshall. Joining Harbour on the film will also be Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane and Daniel Dae Kim.
