Henry Cejudo knows a good boxing drama when he sees one.

The former two-weight class UFC champion jumped on board as an executive producer for the boxing drama In Full Bloom. To Cejudo, the film is full of heart and soul that captured the competitive essence of fighters and boxers.

Here’s the full synopsis:

Set in post-WW2 Tokyo, In Full Bloom follows undefeated Japanese boxing champion Masahiro (Yusuke Ogasawara) as he trains in the winter wilderness for his upcoming battle against American challenger Clint Sullivan (Tyler Wood). Sullivan, who is haunted by memories of his time in the war, must overcome the Yakuza’s warrior-like influence to prepare for the showdown. In Full Bloom explores themes of political tension and the fighters’ parallel journeys as they test the very limits of the human spirit against the backdrop of corruption, painful memories, and the magnitude of defending their home countries.

The rest of the cast included Timothy V. Murphy (Sons of Anarchy), Hiroyuki Watanabe (Everly), Stefanie Estes, Hazuki Kato, and S. Scott McCracken. Fight sequences were coordinated by renowned boxing trainer Darrell Foster (Ali, I Am Legend).

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with former UFC champ Henry Cejudo on his excitement and believing this film as one of the better boxing movies. Also, we touched on the possibility of returning to the ring in the UFC.

At the age of twenty-one, Henry Cejudo was the youngest American gold medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics when he defeated Tomohiro Matsunaga of Japan in the 121-pound freestyle wrestling final. Then he became the UFC champion in two weight divisions, making him one of the greatest combat sports athletes of all time. He announced his retirement after successfully defending his belt against Dominick Cruz with a total knockout on May 9, 2020.

In Full Bloom has a limited theatrical engagement in Los Angeles until October 21. It is now available On Demand today.
