Variety reports that a Heroes reboot is in development from original creator Tim Kring called Heroes: Eclipsed. I’m sure most of our readers either remember or have heard about the Heroes TV series. This was pre MCU/DCU and Season 1 of the series was actually very entertaining, with a lot of cool ideas. However, you are also probably aware that Season 2 happened. From that point on everything turned to rubbish. The exciting set ups from season 1 went nowhere and characters were getting nerfed rather than more powerful.
It really was a lesson in how to turn a successful show into a failure between seasons. So, the question is, why should Kring get the chance to try again when he messed up the first time?
Let’s see what the trade had to say.
‘A new “Heroes” reboot series is in development from creator Tim Kring, Variety has confirmed.’
‘The reboot, titled “Heroes: Eclipsed,” is set years after the events of the original superhero series, as new evolved humans are discovering their powers. Kring is executive producing “Heroes: Eclipsed” with his manager, Mosaic’s Jordan Cerf. Casting has yet to be announced.’
Wait, so this is actually a sequel/reboot? Eww, that sounds even worse. If you were really going to reboot this series, then retell the story of Season 1 with a new cast and give us a better Season 2-4. In other words, I don’t care about anything that happened after Season 1. By the end half of the actors had left. we never even got that Sylar vs Peter super match everyone was hyped for. They fought, but both had already lost so many powers that it all just fell to pieces and didn’t matter.

We already had limited series Heroes Reborn and no one cared about that either. So if a studio is producing Heroes: Eclipsed then I guarantee we are getting a tiny budget. This will be handled with the same care and attention Season 2-4 got, mark my words.
Back when promoting Heroes Reborn, which no one remembers, Kring said;
“I’ve always felt that the brand was elastic enough and a broad enough premise,” Kring said. “It’s a show about ordinary people with extraordinary powers. It’s an indeterminate [amount of] people around the world and then they have to save the world. I feel confident that we can find more story to tell with some returning characters and new ones.”
I’ve got a better idea, go for a long walk in the sea Tim Kring, because I ain’t falling for this one again.
