Henry Cavill talks about the upcoming Highlander Reboot during his appearance at CinemaCon. Cavill will star in the movie as (presumably) Connor McLeod, the Highlander from director Chad Stahelski (John Wick). The movie franchise which spawned a TV series has always been a bit low budget and hokey. Yet, there is an avid audience for the franchise already. As for the rest of us, the point is that this franchise always had untapped potential. In other words, this is a reboot that should be happening, if it’s someone trying to do it right.
Speaking at CinemaCon as per Deadline, Cavill teased his sword skills will need to improve.
“If you thought you’d seen me do sword work before, you haven’t seen anything yet.”
Considering Cavill played Geralt, that is quite the claim.
“I’m a lover of the original movies, for better or for worse. It’s one of those things where when I was reading the script for the first time I wasn’t quite too sure where they were going to go with it.”
‘The first few movies, he said, “touched on the lore … but my goodness me oh my, we are going deep into these characters.”’

For now we don’t have a shooting date, nor a release window for the Highlander Reboot. However, we do know it IS being made and we can hope it’s a good movie. As you can see from the related section above Stahelski says it’s the next movie he will make. At one point I actually mapped out my own version of a reboot for this franchise, however it was a long, long time ago and probably rubbish. However, I’m hoping Stahelski and Cavill are the team to pull this off and realize the franchise potential. That’s all I ever wanted from this series since I first saw the original. The same, but better, deeper, smarter, and better looking.
