His Dark Materials Season 2 teaser hits!
Last year, His Dark Materials really made quite an impact on me. As a fan of the books, I was concerned the series wouldn’t be willing to go to the dark places the original story went. We’d already seen the chance get sullied with The Golden Compass back in 2007. Would they make that mistake again? Well, the first season not only delivered, but it actually made things a bit darker than I recall from the novels. So I could only imagine what we’d get with the adaptation of the second book, The Subtle Knife.
And, if we are to believe the new trailer for His Dark Materials Season 2, they are taking full advantage of darker aspects of the novels. Seriously, based on the new trailer, you wouldn’t realize this was based on a children’s novel. Check out eh brand-new official teaser down below!

This teaser also gave us a close look at an important group of antagonists called Spectres. These ghostly creatures permeate the Cittaggaze and are pretty damn terrifying. I remember them being quite the deadly group, and I recall having a very odd visual in my head of what they look like. But how would they be portrayed on screen?
In this teaser, we see our first look. They resemble intense-looking smoke-clouds. In some ways, it kind of looks like the Obscurus from the Fantastic Beasts series, only closer to human-sized.
What do you think of them? Are the Spectres in His Dark Materials in the Season 2 teaser as terrifying as they were in the novels? Sound off down below!
