His Dark Materials Sets November 16 Season 2 Premiere, Gets Spectral Poster

His Dark Materials Season 2 premiere is near!

One of the low-key favorite series of last year for me was His Dark Materials. Admittedly, I’m predisposed to the series as a whole. I’ve read the books several times since I was in middle school, and have been eagerly awaiting the day when it’d get a faithful adaptation. So I was doubly disappointed when the 2007 film The Golden Compass didn’t meet expectations. Not only was the film disappointing, but that meant, we’d never see the more outlandish novels get adapted.

With His Dark Materials from BBC and HBO, we got a story more tonally and thematically in-line with the books. And with the success of Season 1, we will finally get to see The Subtle Knife get adapted. This new season sees Lyra moving into a different world along with Will, where they face a myriad of unexpected dangers.

And now, we have a new release date for the show — November 16! That means we only have a month left until the premiere of the first episode. But that wasn’t all. HBO also released a poster for the show.

In the poster, we get to see all of the main cast returning. Unless I’m mistaken, we’ve seen virtually everyone here in Season 1 already, but there are three in particular who will have larger roles this time around, including Lord Boreal, Lee Scoresby, and John Parry.

Personally, I’m most excited to see the Spectres in Cittagazze. They were super terrifying in the books, and I’ve only imagined how they’d be portrayed on-screen. In the trailer and this poster, we see them as ghostly wisps, and while this isn’t in line with how I pictured them, there’s a certain allure there.
