If you’ve been a fan of His Dark Materials, these past few months have been pretty amazing. Not only did we just get a solid season of television in the form of the BBC/HBO collaboration that adapted The Golden Compass (or Northern Lights in the U.K.), the first book in the original trilogy, but we also got The Secret Commonwealth, the second book in the Book of Dust series.
For those not in the know, this is the “sidequel” series from author Philip Pullman that acts as both a prequel and sequel to His Dark Materials. While the first book in the new trilogy, La Belle Sauvage, took place over a decade prior to the events in His Dark Materials, the second one took place a decade or so after the events.
With this in mind, fans have been wonderful if an adaptation of that trilogy is in the cards, especially if the BBC/HBO series becomes a huge hit. As it turns out, we aren’t the only ones thinking about it. Apparently, so are the producers. Earlier this week, we reported on some quotes from them wanting to adapt the third book in His Dark Materials into two seasons of TV, but a tweet from a fan account hints at further interest.

According to the Twitter account His Dork Materials, executive producer Jane Tranter attended a Q&A session at the Royal Television Society, where she stated that they would be interested in adapting The Book of Dust into four seasons.
Now, it’s worth noting that we can’t independently confirm this, but it does seem to fall in line with the enthusiasm we’ve seen from the producers in the past. I’m all for this…but are you? Let us know your thoughts down below!
