What a day for news about… yup, the Coronavirus. Look, we’re as tired of it as you are, but it is the news and it is important. Although, this writer (of his own sound opinion and not backed by LRM Media) thinks a lot of these reactions are overkill. The latest Hollywood victim of the virus that started last year in China is, The Batman. According to Umberto Gonzalez, production on the film is set to halt for two weeks.
BREAKING: Production on #TheBatman suspended 2 weeks!
— Umberto Gonzalez (@elmayimbe) March 14, 2020
This does not necessarily mean we’ll see a release date push as there’s always some flex time built into schedules and you can always work (union approved) overtime. The Batman joins other projects that have been delayed or suspended like No Time to Die, Fast 9, and Mulan. The delay in releasing movies makes a little bit of sense. People are spooked right now and less likely to go to a crowded theater. In fact, some theaters are limiting their screening room capacity to 50%. You can read more about that HERE.

The weird thing is this two-week break phenomenon is all over the place. Schools and businesses are shutting down for two weeks too, all over the United States. Why only two weeks? My guess is that’s enough time to see if anyone in a particular cast, crew, business office, or school develops symptoms. If they do, they can be quarantined and then everything else can resume. This (my opinion only) overkill and panic may work to halt the virus’ spread, which in the end would be a good thing. However, I am still… very… upset… ABOUT LOSING MY PITTSBURGH PENGUINS!!!
