Disney’s getting super serious about Die Hard for Kids, aka their reboot of the hit Christmas film, Home Alone. While many would rather this movie sit atop the shelf of childhood classics, with 20th Century Fox now falling under the Disney umbrella, and with Disney being hard-up for content for their Disney+ streaming services, you know they’re looking for every opportunity to milk it for all it’s worth.
As such, it’s fitting that Home Alone is Fox’s first piece of Disney+ content, but who can they possibly get for this movie to get us excited? Let’s start with the kid of the flick. According to Variety, the movie will feature Jojo Rabbit’s Archie Yates as an all-new original character — though we can only presume he’ll be the one who’s “home alone.”

The film has also cast two adults in the form of Elli Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2). Originally, these two were reported to be playing Yates’ parents, but apparently, they’re playing different characters altogether, and it’s still not clear if they are supposed to be a couple or not.
Home Alone is a reboot of the original Macaulay Culkin film, which sees his Kevin McCallister inadvertently left behind by his family, who went on a vacation for the holidays. Kevin sees himself all alone, fighting off a duo of burglars who are really dedicated to hitting his specific house.
What can this film do to possibly outshine the original? Only time will tell.
