Horizon Forbidden West: Why Is Aloy’s Face So Different?

The gameplay demo for Horizon Forbidden West was released on Friday and many, myself included, loved it. The game looked incredible. Many fans also enjoyed Horizon Forbidden West‘s new additions, like the glider and the elephant, as well as melee improvements. Additionally, fans loved the underwater scene.

Aloy’s Face An Issue For Some

Fans did take notice of Aloy’s face. I think you’ll agree that her cheeks look puffy. I’m a little curious about Aloy’s face change, but it doesn’t bother me too much. As for why the change? Some Horizon fans have commented on Reddit and have guessed at lighting and camera angles. Others have guessed this is a result of the character aging. However, the time difference between Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West is only 6 months. I’d therefore take aging off the table. Other comments have pointed out that her skin is too light for a person who spends so much time outside. I agree, but I did appreciate the minor sunburn and more pronounced freckles. It’s a very realistic touch Guerrilla Games added, but yes, her skin should be a little darker.

Horizon Forbidden West Aloy's facial changes

Horizon Forbidden West will be released sometime this year on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. I say sometime because Guerrilla Games doesn’t have an exact release date yet. However, I’m sure it will be coming soon, and I can’t wait. Horizon Zero Dawn was an amazing game and the Aloy was an incredibly fleshed-out character. I therefore can’t wait to see where all of her next adventures will take her.
