Nicholas Hoult is out of the running as Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy, plus Channing Tatum rumored for a DCU role. That’s the latest Barside Buzz from Jeff Sneider on this week’s episode of The Hot Mic. The insider has been pretty good with his leaks lately and he says he’s heard Hoult is out the running for Lex. If you remember, Hoult was actually also in final auditions for the role of Superman. However, many insiders had agreed Hoult was also in the running for Lex Luthor, alongside some other names.
According to Sneider, Hoult is pretty much not in the movie as he is now out of the running for Lex.
So far the only two solid names we have linked with Lex are brothers Bill and Alex Skarsgård.
Now onto another rumor from the same episode regarding the DCU. Sneider has said he’s heard actor Channing Tatum is up for a role in the DCU. So far Sneider does not know which character Tatum is being eyed for. However, he does go on to speculate it could be Hal Jordan, i.e. the more famous Green Lantern. To be clear, that does seem to be purely speculative on Sneider’s part for now.

Just this week it was announced that veteran actor Nathan Fillion would play Lantern Guy Gardner within Superman: Legacy. However, we know there is more coming from the Green Lantern corp. Therefore, at some point you’d expect Hal to show up. Then again, we also need a new Batman for the DCU, Tatum has the build for that role? I’m sure you and I can probably think of a few more DC comic books characters Tatum could play. However, it’s all speculation for now. Fun as that is.
With the SAG strike kicking in, we can be assured there will be no more casting announcements until that process has been resolved. Ergo, it may be a while before we get any idea who the DCU Lex Luthor will be.
So Nicholas Hoult is out of the running as Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy, plus Channing Tatum rumored for a DCU role. What do you think of today’s Barside Buzz? Thoughts below as usual if you can.
