Check out the House of the Dragon full trailer ahead of the show’s HBO Max Debut on August 21st. The show so far looks really good, but I guess we’d expect that coming from Game of Thrones. Check it out and see what you think?
I guess the biggest tonal difference in House of the Dragon is the amount of dragons we will be seeing. Back in Game of Thrones, Dany’s dragons were a slow build. However at this point in time of the story, the Targaryens have already got several huge dragons each, and those will eventually be going to war with one another.
I do like that the dragons all look quite unique from one another whilst still matching the aesthetic we are used to from the main show. Theoretically given this story already has a canon ending, I’m hopeful it’ll be better than how Game of Thrones wrapped up. However, the overall story being told here is in my opinion less of a grand epic than Thrones itself was. For a start we have likely zero White Walker threat at this point. Therefore this show seems set to play in around the political aspects of Kings Landing alone.
I guess what I’m struggling to see so far is who, we as an audience will be able to root for? However until we get to see the story unfold, I guess we just need to wait and see?

I will of course be watching House of the Dragon, and giving my thoughts. Probably per episode. Genuinely hope I am buzzing about it once it hits. I loved Game of Thrones even until Season 8 began. Though on hindsight the rot set in for me back in Season 7, though I couldn’t see it clearly at the time. I guess it was a case of hoping that everything would end spectacularly and a few things in 7 would be forgiven. However when things got worse, and felt so rushed, you couldn’t ignore the point where going against the books seemed to start going wrong.
What do you think of the House of the Dragon full trailer? Are you excited for this Game of Thrones prequel or not? Thoughts below, or on Discord as always.
