According to the very reliable Production List, House of the Dragon Season 2 is to begin filming this March. Specifically, March 6th. Thought we do not know how long Season 2 will film for, we can make some guesses based on Season 1. What seems abundantly clear is that HBO wants Season 2 out as quickly as possible, as this is a relatively short turnaround. I’m not sure anyone expected it to film quite this quickly though it was always going to be this year.
House of the Dragon Season 1 was a critical and audience success. Despite the ill feeling towards the franchise due to the Game of Thrones rushed final seasons those making House of the Dragon have so far done an excellent job. I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1 and I’ll be back for Season 2. I’m not sure it’ll ever get to Game of Thrones like hype levels for me because we know how this show ends from the lore. However, that doesn’t mean there are not still surprises to come, as there were in Season 1.
As for where Season 2 will go? Well you could just read Fire and Blood and find out the whole story, from a certain point of view. So I’ll be staying away from any spoiler talk as there’s a difference between speculated and known spoilers for me. Then again, anyone who watched Season 1 likely knows roughly where Season 2 will go. We have two sides vying against one another for the Iron Throne. Now that family have lost lives the gloves are about to come off in some pretty spectacular ways.

The only thing Season 2 won’t have is Vizzy T played brilliantly by Paddy Considine. However it is of course his absence that enables things to get so out of hand as we move forward.
