How Deadpool 2’s A-List Cameo Came Together [SPOILERS]

SPOILERS AHEAD for Deadpool 2. Seriously, don’t read on unless you want yet another cameo spoiled for you!

You’ve been warned.

Can you believe who played the Vanisher in Deadpool 2? I mean, it starts as a hilarious joke when Deadpool and Weasel aren’t sure if he is in the room, then in launches a few miles higher on the comedy scale when we see him parachuting… and then in the payoff, we see Vanisher being electrocuted… and he’s Brad Pitt! (The comedy “rule of three’s” in action.)

That’s like, the first or second biggest cameo in any superhero film, right around the level of Matt Damon in Thor: Ragnarok. Are traditional A-List actors taking a shine to superhero movies?

Co-writer Paul Wernick explained to Cinemablend how the cameo came about:

“The cameo for Vanisher was last minute. You never saw Vanisher on screen in the original script, and then getting caught up in the electricity wires and seeing the sparks, and then Ryan had the idea, ‘Oh my God, perfect celebrity cameo. Let’s go after the hardest celebrity cameo we can get.’ And that’s Brad Pitt!”

Did you enjoy this very brief cameo from the Pitt/Damon crew? Who from their class would you like to see cameo in a future superhero movie? (Sorry, Affleck is already Batman…). Let us know in the comment section below, along with any other cameos/spoilers you want to discuss!
