How Ryan Reynolds Got Celine Dion To Appear Alongside Deadpool

So I am sure you all watched the, well, just bizarre pairing of Canadian legend Celine Dion and Deadpool in her latest music video (if you missed it, you can check it out just above). If you watched the video from a couple weeks ago, you may still be wondering how Celine Dion got hooked up with the likes of Deadpool. Well, we now have the answer. Speaking on the Build Series, Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds explains how the team-up came to be.

“Of course, the studio piles up a whole bunch of sort of millennial, friendly type singers that are all incredibly talented, but we just thought, ‘Let’s go right to the legend. Let’s see if we can get her.’ So we got a way in through her manager. I sent her a long letter describing what Deadpool is and what we’re hoping to do, and somehow she got… two hours later or something, she said yes. And then we said, ‘How about a video?’ and she said yes to that, too!”

Leave it to Reynolds to want to go against the wishes of the studio and have the mindset to go after someone with the status level of Celine Dion, who is a huge Canadian icon (as is Deadpool). As odd of a pair as these two seem, the bit worked beautifully and is a classic Deadpool type stunt. Deadpool is a fan of many things one would not expect, such as Adventure Time, and Bea Arthur, The Golden Girls, and apparently, Celine Dion.
