The world of How to Train Your Dragon is an incredibly engrossing and endearing one that I’ve been eager to return to for some time. Unlike most, I actually didn’t care for the second one too and was hoping for the story to get back to the feels that made the first one so special for me. Will this be the one to do it? I certainly hope so, and the trailer is helping convince me that it may very well be possible.
There’s a lot going on in this trailer, starting off with a little bit of a glimpse into the past before showing Hiccup years later with a beard — though don’t worry, it looks like that’ll be a flash-forward that will likely cap off the film at the end. Most of the trailer revolves around a hidden world of dragons, the appearance of a Light Fury dragon (Toothless’ inevitable girlfriend), and an evil man who threatens to destroy the Utopia Hiccup and his people have built.
It looks like a fittingly epic and heartfelt conclusion to the story, and I can only hope it sticks the landing.

P.S. Is anyone else appreciating that they’re letting the characters physically grow up in this franchise? It really helps make the whole franchise feel more unique and dynamic than most family film series.
