Over the past couple weeks, we have been treated to the most unexpected of teasers in the form of Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home. This was first premiered in the form of a goofy teaser that showed off Danny McBride riffing on one of Crocodile Dundee’s most quoted moments (“That’s not a knife. Now THAT’s a knife.”).
The internet erupted. Were they really planning on doing something this stupid? We then got a couple more teasers — only this time introducing actor Chris Hemsworth as one of the main characters of the “film.”
Now, another famous Aussie actor is in on the action — Hugh Jackman himself — as he revealed in an Instagram post, which you can check out above. The caption from Jackman read:
“You didn’t really think they’d bring back Dundee…without me, did you?!”
Sadly, the more I see about this project, the more I wish it was real. If you’d asked me for this movie two weeks ago, I would have laughed in your face, but the more I see, the more I can see this actually working as a piece of parody.
However, as it was revealed by the Brisbane Times, Dundee is more than likely part of an advertising campaign for Tourism Australia. But, until the Super Bowl hits, and all is revealed, we’ll just pretend that this is all in favor of a real movie.
