According to the latest Barside Buzz, Hugh Jackman is to stick around as Wolverine for Secret Wars. That is the rumor coming from two separate sources with slightly different takes. However, given that this seems no surprise at all now that Jackman is back for Deadpool 3, it looks like the headline is legit, whether Jackman has signed or not.

First of all we have Daniel RPK on his Patreon saying that before the strikes, Hugh Jackman had a meeting with Kevin Feige to talk about Wolverine having a big role in Avengers: Secret Wars. Of course whilst there is a strike on, no deals will be agreed or announced if they have not been already.

Another insider seems a lot more confident it will happen.

Officially? That would indicate her sources are saying a deal was agreed prior to the strike. Though, I guess that is possible as it is hardly something Marvel would announce this far out.

Jackman, who retired as Wolverine decided to come back and star alongside Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3. There are also rumors that the movie’s title will actually be Deadpool and Wolverine: Subtitle, perhaps marking that this is more than just a secondary role for Jackman.

So how could Wolverine show up in Secret Wars?

Given the Multiversal nature of the Secret Wars being adapted here, it’s not too much of a stretch. Jackman could be some alt-Logan from another Universe. However, rumors about the ending of Deadpool 3 may also provide a clue. None of this is anything more than rumor so far, but I’ll give you a quick SPOILER warning just in case this pans out.

According to one rumor we have shared already on LRM Online, Wolverine and Deadpool both end up in the MCU at the end of the movie. The leak/rumor says that the TVA after the end of the movie have no idea what to do with the pair, so they just drop them into the 616 Universe. In other words, the MCU.

I’ve heard no rumors, yet, of either Deadpool or Logan featuring in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. My guess would be that The Kang Dynasty is the movie in which the Avengers get beaten and seemingly all is lost. Then, Secret Wars will feature a different cast bar 1-2 joining Multiversal variants for a clash to restore the Multiverse. Rumors are that the lead of The Kang Dynasty is Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. I could see Strange being the lead of Secret Wars, with perhaps some Spider-Man variants such as Garfield and Maguire. Both have been rumored to have a deal to come back for the tentpole event movie.

However this far out, the entire script could be changed from what any of the rumors have claimed.

As for Jackman, I could see Secret Wars being his new final appearance. There is no way at his age Jackman is going top continue as Wolverine in the MCU. The rumored next Saga is the Mutant Saga and that means creating a new X-Men eventually.
