After three long years of an extended hiatus, the crew of the U.S.S. Orville returns for a new season in The Orville: New Horizons on the streaming platform Hulu. For actors Adrianne Palicki and Penny Johnson Jerald, it’s a tremendous relief to reunite with the cast on this newly revamped television series from Seth MacFarland.

Along with Palicki and Jerald, the returning cast includes Seth MacFarlane, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, Jessica Szohr, J. Lee, Mark Jackson, and Chad L. Coleman. Anne Winters joins the cast as the new navigator Ensign Charly Burke.

Here is the series synopsis:

Seth MacFarlane’s 10-episode space adventure series The Orville returns exclusively as a Hulu original series. Set 400 years in the future, The Orville: New Horizons finds the crew of the U.S.S. Orville continues their mission of exploration, as they navigate both the mysteries of the universe and the complexities of their own interpersonal relationships.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta talked with actors Adrianne Palicki and Penny Johnson Jerald on their return to the series, the new Orville, and the direction of the storytelling.

Adrianne Palicki starred in the NBC sports drama series Friday Night Lights as Tyra Collette, which opened plenty of acting opportunities in both television and films. She had supporting roles in films, such as Legion, Red Dawn, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and John Wick. In 2014, she joined the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with the recurring role of Barbara “Bobbi” Morse. Her other credits included South Beach, Aquaman, Supernatural, Lone Star, and Red Dawn.

Penny Johnson Jerald played Beverly Barnes on the HBO comedy series The Larry Sanders Show, Kasidy Yates on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Sherry Palmer on the Fox series 24, and Captain Victoria “Iron” Gates on ABC’s Castle. Her other credits included the 1984’s The Hills Have Eyes Part II, Justice League: Gods and Monsters animated film, and the live-action The Lion King as the voice of Sarafina.

The first two episodes of The Orville: New Horizons is now streaming on Hulu. New episodes will air weekly on Thursdays.
