For Jessica Szohr and Anne Winters, they feel like part of the sci-fi family of The Orville: New Horizons despite not being part of the inaugural season. Szohr joined the cast as Lt. Talla Keyali, the new security officer, halfway through season two of The Orville—replacing Halston Sage’s Lt. Alara Kitan. As for Winters, she is the navigator Esign Charly Burke after J. Lee’s John LaMarr got promoted to engineering.
Nonetheless, these women had a blast with their new important roles in the dysfunctional sci-fi family.
Along with Szohr and Winters, the returning cast includes Seth MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, J. Lee, Mark Jackson, and Chad L. Coleman.

Orville continues their mission of exploration, as they navigate both the mysteries of the universe and the complexities of their own interpersonal relationships.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with actresses Jessica Szohr and Anne Winters. We talked about their characters, the direction of the series, and acting on the bridge of a starship.
Jessica Szohr made her debut in 2003 in an episode of My Wife and Kids. Not long thereafter, she had her first role in Uncle Nino. Over the years, she appeared in guest roles on television series, such as That’s So Raven, Drake & Josh, What I Like About You, Joan of Arcadia, and in three episodes as Samantha Barrish in CSI: Miami. In 2007, she appeared for six episodes in the ABC series What About Brian, as the neighbor to the lead character. Her biggest breakthrough performance came in The CW’s Gossip Girl as Vanessa Abrams. Her other film credits included Fired Up, Piranha 3D, and Love, Wedding, Marriage.
Anne Winters made her debut as the young Kathleen in A Christmas Show. In 2013, she guest-starred in Disney Channel’s Liv and Maddie as Kylie Kramer. Then she had a recurring role as Kelsey in the Freeform series The Fosters. From 2014 to 2016, she had the regular role of Emma Al-Fayeed in the drama series Tyrant. Her other major credits included playing the recurring role in Netflix’s drama series 13 Reasons Why as Chloe Rice, and ABC drama series Grand Hotel, and appearing in 2018’s comedy film Night School.
The Orville: New Horizons is currently streaming on Hulu with new episodes airing weekly on Thursday.
