For centuries, religious exorcism has been an act to rid of demons and unexplained events. It was science revealed later that many exorcised individuals simply suffer from mental illness and events were mere coincidences. In the horror-thriller In the Fire, the film debates science and religion surrounding supernatural occurrences with a boy.
Here is the full synopsis:
Starring Amber Heard (Aquaman), she plays a doctor from New York who travels to a remote plantation in the 1890s to care for a disturbed boy who seems to have inexplicable abilities. She begins treating the child, but in doing so ignites a war of science versus religion with the local priest who believes the boy is possessed by the Devil and is the reason for all the village’s woes.
Conor Allyn (No Man’s Land) directed the film that he co-wrote with Pascal Borno (Children of the Corn) and Silvio Muraglia (After the Wedding). The film also stars Eduardo Noriega (Vantage Point, The Last Stand), Lorenzo McGovern Zaini (Christmas Thieves, American Night), Sophie Amber (The Wrecker), and Luca Calvani (The International, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.).
