Some Indiana Jones 5 news dropped on Friday, sadly too late for me to cover at that point. Toby Jones is in Indiana Jones 5. Previously some blurry images were claimed to be of British actor Toby Jones, though it was hard to tell. However these latest images captured by The Daily Mail make it very clear Jones is in Indy 5. The Daily Mail has more images than this if you click in the original source within this post. Essentially these are all of the same scene being filmed with Jones and Ford. What fans across the World have noticed very quickly is the dots all over Ford’s face. These normally indicate some sort of mo-cap, the most reasonable explanation is de-aging effects being used as Jones does not have any.
Considering we think the scenes being filmed are flashbacks to WW2 era Jones, it’s not surprising. Remember we have also seen a stunt man riding a motorbike with a rubber Jones mask on and he had dark hair. As for Jones, considering his history with the accent, most fans think he is playing a German. Perhaps this is a scientist, or important prisoner that Indy helps escape? We think the scenes being filmed around Bamburgh Castle were of an escape from a POW camp. However, films don’t always shoot in order, so the scenes in question might not be directly connected.
There are some fans worried that Indiana Jones will be de-aged for the whole movie, and this is a prequel to KOTCS. I wouldn’t think so. Really there is no reason to even consider this option for the moment. The most realistic explanation as we have said is a flashback, probably for the prologue of the movie.
Morocco?
Meanwhile self-proclaimed mega Indy Fan Kevin has released a new video saying that he has confirmation that Indiana Jones 5 will film in Morocco? You can check that video below. However bear in mind no source are cited here, so treat this with some sodium before consuming.
The only thing worthy of note for now if Morocco is a location for the movie is the fact it is Africa. Whenever Indy has travelled to Africa previously inn the movies he has called in on his old friend Salah. Salah is Egyptian, and in a huge continent like Africa, Morocco is not too far from Egypt. I mean it’s the entire size of Europe away, but that is still like neighbors in African terms.

Could Salah show up? I’d love the character to show back up but as far as we know John Rhys-Davies hadn’t been asked. Though, that was some time ago, who knows whether the veteran actor could have been approached since? Would Rhys-Davies be interested in coming back for a minor role again though? Unsure of that, however I hope they don’t kill him off between the movies. That would be a shame as Salah was such a great comedic foil to Indy.
I guess we will find out if and when shooting moves to Morocco?
