Everyone fears the Xenomorph. Introduced in 1979’s Alien, the creatures are among the most frightening movie monsters of all time. You’ve got your facehuggers, chestbursters, Alien Queen, and now backbursters! All of which are extremely lethal and creepy as hell. There may now be a not-so-new threat in the Alien Universe… killer androids!
Androids have always been dicks, beginning with Ash setting up his crew in Alien. David from Prometheus was no better, infecting his crew-mates with alien viruses to deal with his creation issues. Alien: Covenant will feature not one, but two androids, both played by Michael Fassbender. You have David returning from Prometheus, who most likely still hates his creators. In addition, the new android Walter is embedded with the crew of the Covenant. We know David will be dangerous, but will he corrupt poor Walter as well?
ComicBookMovie.com has the new international poster from South Korea for Alien: Covenant, reminding us of the dangers of man-made androids, reading “What will be the end of mankind?”
We all knew androids were dangerous, but they’ve always played second fiddle to the aliens. By putting them side-by-side, something not done in any US marketing, it’s time to wonder if we may be seeing a large number of android caused fatalities in addition to those of the classic Xenomorph. After all, you can’t spell “Alien” without “A.I.”
The synopsis for Alien: Covenant is as follows:
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Alien: Covenant hits screens on May 19, 2017.
