Interview With Moises Zamora Creator And Co-Showrunner For Selena: The Series [Exclusive Interview]

Selena: The Series will drop on Netflix this Friday, December 4th. Its been twenty-five years since the tragic death of the Queen of Tejano music. But even though so much time has passed, Selena’s influence in Latin culture has proved to be timeless. Songs like “Balia Esta Cumbia” and “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” are still commonly played at parties across the nation. While a film was made a few years after her passing, so much time has passed that it seemed like the right time for a refresher on the life of Selena Quintanilla.

This is where Netflix’s Selena: The Series comes in. It takes us on a journey with the Quintanilla family as we see them grow before our eyes. The heart of that family of course was Selena, who is played by the beautiful Christian Serratos. We will go behind the music and learn about all of the sacrifices and hard work that took them to the top of the charts.

Here is more information about Selena: The Series provided by Netflix:
Before she became the Queen of Tejano Music, Selena Quintanilla was a young girl from Texas with big dreams and an even bigger voice. The two-part coming-of-age drama Selena: The Series explores the once-in-a-generation performer’s journey as a young artist, from singing small gigs in Corpus Christi with her family to becoming one of the most successful Latin artists of all time — and the years of grit and sacrifice the Quintanilla family navigated together before Selena’s meteoric rise to fame.

In promotion of the series, LRM Online had the opportunity to talk with Moises Zamora. He is the creator, co-showrunner, and executive producer for the series. During our conversation, we talk about why this is the right time for this series. As well as why Serratos was the perfect choice to play the lead role. Be sure to check it out below!
