Iron Man And Spider-Man Go On A Time Heist In This Trippy Deepfake Video!

Viewed over 3 Million times, YouTuber EZRyderX47 has inserted Robert Downey, Jr. and Tom Holland into the iconic Back to the Future. Using the first film in the trilogy, EZRyderX47 recreates two scenes from the iconic film, showing us the Time Heist that could have been, had Spidey not been snapped in Avengers: Infinity War. Having been used to mimic everyone from politicians to celebrities to tech moguls, deepfake videos are often in the news for less than virtuous reasons.

Most recently, Facebook has announced that they would ban deepfakes that it believes are deliberately misleading and not intended for parody or satire.  It’s easy to see where they could be problematic, so it’s great when someone comes along to show us the lighter side of the tech.

The creation of deepfakes employs a technique that involves machine learning and artificial intelligence to replace a person in an existing media, photograph or video, with another person.  Other than Facebook, Reddit and Gyfcat have taken notice of the technique and have banned some uses on their platforms. Several States, as well as the US Congress, have attempted to tackle the issue over concerns of fraud and abuse.

War Machine declared every time hopping movie, to include Back to the Future, as “bullshit” after discussing the mechanics of time travel with the Hulk and Ant-Man. Boy, if they could see what has been cooked up now with their Avenger buddies.

Robert Zemeckis has repeatedly said that he wouldn’t allow a reboot of the franchise. Maybe maybe in the future, we won’t need reboots, just cleverly dusted off versions of what we already have. We may not even need actors anymore…

What do you think? What deepfake mashup would you like to see?
