Is Chiwetel Ejiofor Hinting He May Be The Leader Of The Illuminati In Multiverse Of Madness

In a recent interview with ETOnline, is Chiwetel Ejiofor hinting he may be the leader of The Illuminati in Multiverse of Madness? If you’ve seen the trailers and spots for Multiverse of Madness then you know Ejiofor returns as Mordo. However so far, the only Mordo we have seen, is not the one from the MCU, but an alt-version. We know Mordo is involved with the Multiversal Illuminati, along with Patrick Stewart’s Prof X. There are also rumors of Black Bolt, Clea, Mister Fantastic, Captain Carter and maybe more. Speaking with ET Ejiofor explained he was excited for the movie, and, well let’s look at the quote first shall we?

“It’s pretty bonkers, and it’s going to be really exciting,” shared the actor, who plays sorcerer Karl Mordo in the franchise. “It’s been a real joy to bring that team back together, and Sam [Raimi, director of the sequel] made me sort of the leader for this film, and, you know, I just think his work is so extraordinary and has been for so long. So it was very, very exciting, and I think people are really going to enjoy it.”

I’m intrigued by the line ‘made me sort of the leader for this film’. Is that a hint that Mordo may be the leader of that Multiversal Illuminati? I mean one would expect that the leader of the film would be the two main characters which are Strange and Wanda, more so Strange clearly.

I guess if in his Universe Mordo is the Sorcerer Supreme then it might make sense if it was he who formed The Illuminati. Look, I can’t say for certain, but I find it a very curious statement to make within the context of this quote. I guess it won’t be long before we find out exactly what Ejiofor meant. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 4th, Star Wars day. That’s only two weeks before fans can check the movie out for themselves and I will be there opening weekend for sure.

What do you think? Is Chiwetel Ejiofor hinting he may be the leader of The Illuminati in Multiverse of Madness? Or can you think of another explanation for his words here? Let us know in the usual spot below.
