Is Mephisto Finally Headed To The MCU? [UPDATED – Sacha Baron Cohen Confirmed?]

Seems like just yesterday, fans around the globe were seeing Mephisto all over Disney+'s WandaVision. Is it Sacha Baron Cohen?

Seems like just yesterday, fans around the globe were seeing Mephisto all over Disney+‘s WandaVision. Week after week everyone was certain that he was behind what was going on in the series. Until it was revealed he was not. Since then it has kind of become a running joke with fans (including us on the Genreverse Podcast), that Mephisto is behind X, Y, Z. Is it Sacha Baron Cohen?

But new rumors have emerged that hint that the character could be coming soon to the MCU, for reals this time.

UPDATED: Deadline are now reporting they’ve heard the same information from their own sources at Marvel Studios.

A source close to the production confirmed to Deadline that there is talk on the set about Cohen being part of Ironheart, likely playing Mephisto. He also has been spotted at the Marvel facilities located at UK’s Pinewood Studios. Reps for Marvel and Cohen have refused to comment on any Cohen involvement in Ironheart or the larger MCU.

Original Report From Manny Gomez Below!

According to recent posts on Twitter from various insiders, it’s rumored that Borat actor, Sacha Baron Cohen is set to play the Marvel villain in the upcoming Ironhart Disney+ series.

Not much is known still about the series and less about this rumor. But it is said that The Hood, played by Anthony Ramos, will be getting his powers from Mephisto after making a deal with him. This is contrary to the comic, where he made a deal with Dormammu. This entity has already appeared in the 2016 Doctor Strange film.

Mephisto made his first Marvel Comics appearance in Silver Surfer #3 in 1968. Created by Stan Lee and John Buscema. He is a sadistic, dangerous extra-dimensional demon with many powers. This includes various forms of manipulation through his magical abilities like shape-shifting, projecting illusions, and altering time.

It’s an interesting rumor to chat about. It would seem like if he is in Ironheart, it would be for more of a cameo. With a new hero like Riri Williams, it would seem strange to have her go up against such an entity. But it would be interesting for that character to lead up to a confrontation with someone like Agatha in her upcoming series.

It would be funny to see Cohen actually playing Dormammu and seeing fans upset again. But would make more sense since he has already been introduced.
