According to Variety it looks like NBC is going to give the tech support crew of Reynholm Industries another shot. NBC is set to put into production another attempt at an American version of the popular British comedy, The IT Crowd. The show follows the day-to-day of two IT guys and their relationship manager.
NBC produced an American remake of the show in 2007, however, it was not well received by viewers, and the show was soon canceled. The reboot starred original cast member Richard Ayode as Maurice Moss, Joel McHale as Roy, and Jessica St. Clair as Jen, but even having the original “Mozz” was not enough to save the show.
In 2014 the network made another attempt at a remake, but this time around the project never gained any ground. What’s different about this most recent effort is the show’s original creator, Graham Linehan, is going to write and produce, which I believe will make a huge difference. The first attempt just missed the spirit of the original British show completely.
That being said, the same could be said of another British comedy adaptation, The Office, and that one managed to find an audience that allowed it to live on well past its expiration date.
Being a big fan of British comedy, The IT Crowd is in my top comedies off all time, I absolutely loved this show when it was on air.
